In the precincts of the Setagaya Hachimangu Shrine, there is a simple dohyo ring. Children play sumo wrestling, couples stroll by and passers-by bow their heads. The author cherishes this "sacred neighborhood place", with it's symbolic eternal circle and quiet light. For two years he repeatedly photographed this ring, shooting to the left, then the right, then the left like a swinging pendulum.
